Scholastic Book Wizard Instructions
For some books, finding a DRA level may be difficult or impossible. However, there are many different book leveling systems. This book level conversion chart shows 4 different leveling systems and a few book titles as examples. This way, if you find a book with a Lexile level or guided reading level on it, you can find the approximate DRA level.
Flashcard Flip
Materials: Flashcards with the equation written on one side and the equation WITH the product written on the other side.
1. Lay a set of facts in front of you with the equation and product showing. Put the facts in order.
2. Point to all of the equations, one at a time, saying the fact aloud with the product. Do this at least twice.
3. Flip some of the cards over so the product is NOT showing.
4. Point to all of the equations again and say the facts one at a time along with the product. Flip some more cards over. Continue this until all of the cards have been flipped so that the product is NOT showing. Say the facts at least twice without any products showing.
5. Now, mix the order of the flashcards so that they are NOT in order. Point to all of the equations again and say the facts one at a time along with the product. Try mixing them up a few times.
